Don't Take Me Serioulsy People. Seriously.

Fiction Vixen
Yeah I know, Meme shmeme. I can't help it, it's my inner teenage girl. She needs a little meme time and what can I say? I'm there for her...me...whatever.
I got this little meme from The Book Vixen. Swing by and check her out, she's a cool chica. Tell her I sent you, then duck.
Ok, here we go, strap in or strap on, or whatever floats your boat, it's meme time.
Meme: The Fiction Vixen's Reading Style
Hardback, trade paperback or mass market paperback?
Usually mass market paperback. I spend a good part of the family fortune on books and MMPB lets me stretch a little further. Now, if it's a must have, cannot wait, gotta read it now or I'll freakin' explode kind of book (think Karen Marie Moning's Dreamfever), then I'll spring for the hardback.
Barnes & Noble or Borders?
Barnes & Noble. There's a B&N with a Starbucks right next to the movie theater and I love to catch a flick, grab a cuppa, and browse the romance section. (Gotta keep my hoodie up though, I'm kind shy about my sexy reads)
Bookmark or dog-ear?
What? We live in a civilized society. Are there still people who dog-ear? There are laws right? (sorry BV lol)
Amazon or brick-and-mortar?
Oh Amazon how I love you and your one click purchasing feature. You may get me divorced someday but I know you'll still be there for me, waiting, loving me for all eterni...eh hem...sorry. Moving on.
Alphabetize by author, or alphabetize by title, or random?
By author, then by series and if possible by size and pretty color, with a cross reference sheet posted near by (laminated of course) and book catalog software on the laptop that is placed within reaching distance of the bookshelf. What? You don't do that?
Keep, throw away, or sell?
Keep! To throw away is sacrilege and to sell, well, that just hurts. It's wrong on so many levels. It's like selling your children. It's not right. You could maybe pack them up and send them to boarding school, but not sell.
Keep dust jacket or toss it?
What? What is with these questions? Who thinks this stuff up? Keep, and stroke it if it's hot, duh. (shout to K.C. @ smokinhotbooks girl can steeee-roke)
Read with dust jacket or remove it?
Remove carefully, place in safe deposit box or some other fire proof device, then carefully and lovingly read the book, and replace.
Short story or novel?
Novel but I'll take the bits and crumbs if it's from a series and/or author I love.
Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
What's a Lemony Snicket? Can you eat it? If you can, I'll take one of those or five.
Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
I never consciously stop. I just wake up, wipe the drool off my chin, look around to see who saw and go from there.
“It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”?
It was a dark and stormy night....
And they lived happily and richly ever after.
There, I just wrote my first paranormal romance! Go me!
Buy or borrow?
Steal. Just kidding. I'm still on probation and I promised I'd stop that. No really, I'm a stingy bitch and I don't play well with others so I buy. It's just easier that way and plus as I said, I'm still on probation and assault and battery is a no no when on probation.
Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse?
Oh I'm a sheep. Whatever the cool chicks are reading, I'm there. Whatever it takes.
Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
Tidy ending fo sho! Wait, what? Oh we're talking about books here, I forgot. We'll get to tidy endings later. I used to think I needed a tidy ending in a book, but I have to admit Karen Marie Moning's Fever Series makes me yearn and ache for more with her "What? What? What do mean that's it and I have to wait until the next book comes out in 2000 freakin' ten" endings.
Morning reading, afternoon reading, or nighttime reading?
Mostly night reading but I admit to sneak reading here and there. You know like on the freeway, in the shower, during a niece for nephew's baptism.
Stand-alone or series?
Series. My hot sexy alpha males get attached to me and I don't want them to miss me. I'm sweet like that.
Favorite series?
The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning because Barrons scares me a little and I kind of like that in a twisted hot sexy sort of way. The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by J.R. Ward because well, great big bad ass vampires in leather make me all tingly. Midnight Breed Series by Lara Adrian see: great big bad ass vampires and tingly.
Favorite children's book?
Heidi by Johanna Spyri because I remember my mom reading it to me when I was little. It's one of my earliest memories. Yes, Fiction Vixen has a heart...and a mom, I didn't hatch. Sheesh people.
Favorite YA book?
Twilight. I'm not going to lie. I loved it, ate it up, and pretended Edward loved me, and only me. There, I said it. Deal with it people.
Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
Look, I told you, I'm a sheep. I follow. I follow on twitter, I follow on goodreads, heck I'll follow you around the grocery store if you smell good and you give me a cookie. Who am I kidding? You don't even have to smell good, just give me the cookie.
Favorite book read last year?
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Jamie and Claire rock my world. Jamie and Claire need to hurry their asses up and get to my local Barnes & Noble in the form of Echo In The Bone so I can get my Highlander on. (Am I the only one the smirks when they read the words Echo In The Bone? I know, grow up.)
Favorite books of all time?
I'm going to skip this one. I can't commit to a firm decision here. I don't want to feel like I'm cheating on one of my beloveds.
What are you reading right now?
The Highlander's Touch by Karen Marie Moning because I found out that there are cross over characters between the Highlander series and the Fever series and my OCD tendencies demand that I cover all my bases.
What are you reading next?
Gena Showalter's Lords Of The Underworld Series because a certain book blogger strokes her LOTUW covers and I have to admit I'm intrigued.
Favorite book to recommend to an 11-year-old?
Is it hot in here? My collar feels tight. My eye is twitching too. 11-year-olds scare me. Keep it away.
Favorite book to re-read?
Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls if I'm feeling all pre-teeny and I need a good cry. Otherwise maybe something from The Outlander series since I'm sure to catch something I missed the first time. (I fell asleep a lot reading those because I couldn't put them down)
Do you ever smell books?
Um, no. My nose crinkled when I read that. I don't know why.
Do you ever read primary source documents like letters or diaries?
No, beatings from an enraged older sister spring to mind when I think of reading letters and diaries that are not mine.
Anyone notice how I managed to mention Karen Marie Moning no less than 883 times in this post? I'm not a stalker. I'm not. And I'm not obsessed. I'M NOT OKAY? I just happen to like the name Karen, and Marie...and I may like the name Moning. Okay? Don't be jealous.

Cool survey, BDB is my favorite series. I also liked Outlander and I like KMM but haven't read the latest Fever book yet. I did like the other three though.
You made me laugh so hard, I had tears coming out of my eyes!!
Did I just say that out loud...?
LOL!!
I totally smell books.
Barrons scares me and I like it..I srsly spend way too much time thinking about him.
LOL@ your smexy men get attached to you. That's right! You just line them up and lead the way!
I find your stalker behavior of KMM very normal, really, totally getting you on that one *grin*
I have an award for you HERE
Karen Marie Moning should hire you as her publicist. Never heard of her but now I have to find out who she is.
Finally an entertaining blog. I'll have to check these books out because I'm seriously craving me some Urban Fantasy in MMPB. All my favorite series are Urban Fantasy but I usually can't find any more recommendations for books to read. So count on me stalking you from now on.
Spot on with some many answers here. Enjoyed it. :)
BDB and Fever series - my favs too!!
Great post! Annoyed boyfriend with laughing so hard.
I keep waiting for someone to tell me I have a typo in the title. Apparently no one is taking me seriously. Seriously.
