I am pleased to once again welcome Olivia Cunning to Fiction Vixen. You may recall her fantastic guest post on The Top Ten Reasons Lead Guitarists Make Good Romance Heroes. It was one of the best guest posts we’ve had here at Fiction Vixen and today she is back with a top ten list to tell us why lead vocalists make good romance heroes. Take it away Olivia!

Top Ten Reasons Vocalists Make Good Romance Heroes
My name is Olivia Cunning and I’m addicted to rock stars. Ever notice that there aren’t very many books out there about rock stars? I did. So I wrote one called Backstage Pass. Every author is excited when they get their first book published. They don’t want to be told that rock stars don’t make good romance heroes or that books about rock star don’t sell. Last October, I told the story of how I first learned that romance books about rock star heroes don’t sell. I won’t reiterate. Bad memories are best left in the past, but I did promise to remind everyone why rock stars DO make good heroes when my second rock star erotic romance, Rock Hard, was released. Guess what? It’s been released. It’s true that rock stars aren’t typical romance heroes, but then, that’s sort of the point. Welcome to my rock ‘n’ roll fantasy.
Now for the top ten reasons why vocalists make good romance heroes.
Number 10: Vocalists can drive a crowd of thousands crazy.
Rock Hard pg 263
At the end of Brian’s intro, Sed raced across the stage, his low growl increasing in volume until it broke into a loud battle cry. The crowd screamed when the lights suddenly went bright and they recognized he’d entered the stage. God, he loved these people. All fifteen thousand of them.
Number 9: They can drive you even crazier.
Rock Hard pg 278
Jessica’s fingers curled into his naked chest. “Then why don’t you do something about it?”
Sed lifted her off the ground by her ass and she wrapped her legs around his waist, her arms around his neck. She stroked his silky soft hair and kissed him while he carried her down the corridor and out into the warm night air behind the stadium. She was vaguely aware of camera flashes going off on their way to the bus, but she really didn’t care at the moment. She just wanted her man to take her. The sooner the better.
Number 8: Vocalists wear leather.
Rock Hard pg 91
She found Sed leaning against the bus. His wide-brimmed hat was tilted low over his brow, his pretty blue eyes hidden behind a pair of dark sunglasses. He wore black leather pants, a white t-shirt, and a long leather duster.
“It’s pretty warm out here for a coat,” Jessica said, an eyebrow lifted at him.
“I’m willing to suffer for style.”
Number 7: And sometimes, they don’t wear leather.
Rock Hard pg 195
“What am I supposed to be thinking about?”
He peeled his shirt off over his head and tossed it aside. “Me.”
Like she could think of anything else when he was shirtless. “You just ate, Sed. You can’t come into the water for at least twenty minutes.” Despite her teasing, her appreciative gaze roamed the hard contours of his naked chest and stomach. Beautiful man. About time he got down to business and gave her what she really wanted.
Number 6: Vocalists sing to you at appropriate times.
Rock Hard pg 100
“This is a beautiful song,” Sed whispered.
“Yeah.” She forced her eyes open to watch the arcing water, moving in time with the music. “Celine Dion.”
“Yeah.” He sang the romantic lyrics into her ear, two octaves lower than the famous diva. The sound of his incredible voice in her ear, singing words that would make any girl’s heart melt, was almost as spectacular as having his *censored* buried inside her in public. Almost.
Number 5: They sing to you at inappropriate times.
Rock Hard pg 234
“Sing to me.”
He grinned, grinding his *censored* against her again before withdrawing. “Do you have a request?”
“Something romantic.”
“Then nothing Sinners,” he said, laughing. He continued to possess her with a consistent and relentless tempo.
“G-goodbye Is Not Forever is…oh, oh, I’m getting close again. Harder, Sed.”
“Nope. This is all you get.” He sang to her though as he kept the same slow pace, his *censored* rubbing her *censored*, his *bleep* filling her deep.
“Tomorrow was my second chance to make things right but it never came. I’m sorry I never treasured the time we had for those regrets I take the blame. You gave everything you had. I took without giving back.” Sed paused in his song, feeling ridiculous for singing it to her while they made love. “Baby, you realize this song is about Trey’s dead dog, don’t you?”
Number 4: Vocalist write lyrics about you. (Not sure if that’s always a good thing!)
Rock Hard pg 205
He pulled his lyrics journal from under the cushion of the bench seat and started to write. It would help to get these feelings out of his head, where they churned incessantly.
He labeled the page: Used.
He then scrawled beneath the title, in barely legible script:
You don’t see me.
Blind to the real me.
I’m not who you think I should be.
But I can’t be someone I’m not.
He paused, chewing on the end of his pen.
I’ll try to be who you need,
what you need,
I fail again
tear me, cut me, make me bleed
if it opens your heart to me.
Just don’t leave me with nothing.
Less than nothing.
Like the last time.
Use me.
It’s better than existing without you.
Number 3: They have lackies to run errands for you (or not)
Rock Hard pg 287
Trey set his guitar aside and climbed to his feet. “I’ll be right back. Anyone need anything?”
“I do.” Jessica stepped forward. “Just a few feminine products. Tampons, maxi pads (the overnight ones), panty liners, a disposable douche, body wax. You guys will probably appreciate me having some Midol on hand and—”
Trey winced. “I’m not going to buy all that girl stuff for you. Get it yourself.”
Jessica huffed with annoyance. “Fine. I don’t see what the big deal is. It’s not like the clerk is going to think it’s for you.”
He opened the bus door and Jessica followed him. “I’d end up getting the wrong thing and you’d send me back in there for more.” He shuddered.
She laughed. “Probably.” Well now she had a legitimate reason to be in the store with him. She just hoped the aisles were arranged properly for eavesdropping.
Number 2: Vocalists have lots of money (but should probably work on their delivery)
Rock Hard pg 28
“If you needed money, you should have asked.” He set her on her feet and reached for his wallet. He pulled out a wad of cash and held it out to her. “Here. There’s a couple thousand bucks here. I can get you more. Whatever you need.”
“I don’t want your money, Sed.”
“Why, because I’m just giving it to you? Fine. What do you charge for an hour of your time? A couple hundred? I’ll buy you for the night. Or the week.”
Smack! She slapped him so hard he tasted blood. He winced, tonguing the cut on the inside of his cheek.
And the Number 1 reason why rock stars make good romance heroes: They’re all well hung.
Rock Hard pg 228
She broke the kiss and looked down at him, grinning. “Is that an anaconda in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”
“Why don’t you check it out?”
She slid down his body and reached for his belt. “If this turns out to be a big, thick snake, I’m going to be very upset.”
Have I convinced you yet? Do you think rock stars make good romance heroes? I don’t know what it is about then, but I find them undeniably sexy.

ROCK HARD BY OLIVIA CUNNING – IN STORES APRIL 2011
Amazon || Book Depository || Barnes & Noble
A Sinners on Tour Novel
Sinner’s lead singer, Sed, had his heart shredded when Jessica left him to pursue her dreams, so when she dances her way back into his life, he’s not sure he’s ready for her brand of pain, or pleasure, again. When she convinces Sed to engage in a benefits with benefits relationship, things seem to be going his way, until one of his fans catches their explicit public display of affection on film and posts it all over the internet. Will Jessica ever trust Sed again? And has Sed become the man of Jessica’s dreams or is he just posing to get what he wants?

Hi Olivia! I would find it rather tough to request a song when “other” more important matters are taking place.
It’ll be interesting to see how Sed reacts to her line of “Work” when he reconnects with her after 2 years. Rock Hard sounds fantastic and I can’t wait to read it.
I’d love to be entered in the giveaway!
Thanks for the opportunity!

Lol…Loved the Top Ten Reasons list…
I love the idea of rock stars being romance heroes! I think that even though they have a lot of fans and people screaming on a daily basis for their attention that it can be a really lonely lifestyle and that few people can really understand how difficult it is….so for them to connect with someone on a real romantic level and not as a one night stand type level…it really means something…after all of Jon Bon Jovi has been married to the same woman for a long time and their marriage is still going strong!
Thanks for the contest!
junegirl63(at)gmail(dot)com
Oh yes, you’ve convinced me! The “well-hung” thing made me laugh. Do you think size affects vocal performance?
The romantic hero in my books isn’t a rock star but he does sing for a living. A smooth-voiced man makes me weak in the knees. I had fun writing scenes where women kept buying him drinks for his performance.
Good luck with your rockin’ novels!
No need to enter me in the contest already have the book and ebook. I think rock stars make perfect romance heroes. They are the quintesential bad boy. I always love the bad boy with the loose past that finds “the one”. In a historical he would be the rake who gives up his womanizing, gambling, alcoholic, partying ways for the one woman (and or man) that makes his life makes sense. The Rock Star is the ultimate artistic bad boy that you dream about having all to yourself. I love the Sinners. Olivia, I hope you write many more Rock Star heroes because I love reading about them…ummm Dare….maybe…
They definitely do!! Who wouldn’t like a hot guy overlooking thousands of others to serenade just you? And the leather…..well, need I say more? Thanks!
Hollybwright at comcast.net
I would definately agree that rock stars make good romance heroes. They write and sing songs for you, they are well hung, hot when wearing leather or not, and they are used to staying up all night and rocking HARD!
I would love to win a copy of this book.

When Rock Hard was reviewed, I kept scrolling down because thats one hot cover. Rock Stars are bad boys and I love to read about bad boys.
I absolutely loved the interview and Top Ten, if I hadn’t have already thought of Rock Stars making good heroes – I’ve been in love with the idea ever since I read the manga Kaikan Phrase. Ican’t wait to dig into this series
!
pams00 @ aol.com
Perhaps, perhaps not, I mean they are sex and can sing, but all those groupies would make me nervous
Most definitely! Especially when I picture Sed as M. Shadows of A7X. (If you don’t know you should definitely look him up and Avenged Sevenfold…like now.) Yummy yummy! Looking forward to the rest of the books! Everyone in Sinners is to die for! <3
LOLOL..I love your guest posts Olivia! Vocalists make excellent boyfriends – I mean romance heroes! (and #1 is a given!)
I am definately convinced. I love all 10 reasons, but #4 in particular threw me over the edge. I can’t wait to read Rock Hard.

Awesome post, and thanks for the chance to win a copy of Rock Hard
I can’t wait to read this book. I just got Backstage Pass yesterday and can’t wait to read it.
I’m definitely convinced vocalists make good heroes. They are sexy and they can sing. What’s not to love?
I’ve been in love with stories featuring rock stars for a long time now and the reasons you gave are precisely why. I love that bad boy look with the ability to belt out all sorts of romantic verses, love the contradictions.

I’m a Sinners groupie!!! Loved both books and yes, rock stars/vocalists make great romance heroes. I’m waiting patiently for Trey!
Great list and I’m with Mandi, #1 is a given!
You have convinced me. Rock stars are so sexy.

I’m glad most of you are easy. Wait… that came out wrong.
You know what I mean!
Yes, I am convinced. I love number 5 *snicker*
I think they make good romance heroes..the sexy mysterious bad boy with secrets and a wild side.
love the list,especially number one.
Well these rock stars do thats for sure and if I am answering this question then sure they do. The sinners just have it going on! Although I think Jace will be the best lover *winks* This was a cute post and I enjoyed it

@Olivia Cunning: I’m not going to lie. Totally easy.
At least you’re honest, FV.
I say they make good heroes bc they look hot in leather pants!
Yes. How did you convince me? They wear leather… sometimes not.
lol Great part there.

Well, I’m totally convinced! I’ve never heard of any better suited for romance heroes than these rock stars. Even the so-called bad points are making me like them even more! I really hope I can read Rock Hard soon, since I’ve been a fan since ‘Backstage Pass’
Thank you so much for this chance!

Thank you Fiction Vixen for introducing me to the awesomeness that is Sinners on tour.
After reading Backstage Pass I was convinced I needed to start dating a lead guitarist (preferably one that has naughty rhythm guitarist for a friend)
After reading Rock Hard I am now convinced I need me a lead singer.
I’m a afraid that after I have finished the last book in this series I will want a complete rock band all for myself.
Absolutely – the one talent I always wanted was to be able to sing. Those who can do so can move people and sway emotions just with their voices. There’s something so unbelievably sexy about a rock star singer. I mean, what else could explain Mick Jagger’s appeal?
jen at delux dot com
Love your first book. I can’t wait to read your new book. Rock Stars can definitely be heroes. They need love to and most likely they are lonely since they are on the road a lot. Just because they have lots of sex with groupies, doesn’t make them in love with anyone. Sometimes, sex is just sex. I would love to be entered into the giveaway.
aspersuasion88 at yahoo dot com
You had me at them writing lyrics about me! I can’t but swoon to a song dedicated to me. And LOL @ anaconda in the pocket!
angeldream3[at]gmail[dot]com
You know what… I think it has something to do with the fact that there is something so bad about them (like mommy and daddy definitely wouldn’t approve) but girls think they can make them behave (or not whichever you prefer lol) that intrigues us with the whole rockstar fantasy
And as far as rockstars being great lovers … I think we believe that because have you ever watched the way a guitarist or bassist plays … it really is like he is making love to it and if his fingers are so talented with the way he touches those strings well then we generally get curious about what else those magic hands can do:) *cough* Jace *cough* just sayin
So yes I agree that rockstars make the most sinfully sexy romance heros
@Samantha: Totally agree!!
Vocalists make good romance heroes because they’re bound to be vocal in bed as well. ;o) Gotta love that.
hhughes83@aol.com
I was convinced after Backstage Pass. I couldn’t wait for Sed’s book.
OMG! I can’t wait to read this book! Rock stars are fun to read about! I have a thing for bassists and drummers.
rootml1{AT}hotmail{DOT}com
I would love to be entered! Ive been hoping for more since finishing Backstage Pass! HOnestly though im more of Jace lover, along with Brian and Trey of course!(piercings just make me go nuts and in a good way). I was convinced from the moment Sinners were introduced in Backstage Pass. I mean come on, who doesnt love a bunch of hot men in leather with voices like liquid sex?
glitchrockdeath@aim.com
You’ve convinced me. I think rock stars make good romance heros, because they are usually so sexy and handsome. Love to read this book. Please enter me. Thanks!
ayancey(at)dishmail(dot)net
I think rock stars make great romance heroes…everyone one of my female friends has had “crushes” on rockstars…some as teens (or younger)…some as woman!I just started reading BACKSTAGE PASS today and am totally into it! Would love to win ROCKHARD.
Dang…yummy! I saw this book and wanted it for the cover but after reading this I don’t think I can wait to see if I win the contest. I might just have to go buy it =) About the question…everyone knows it’s bad news to date a rock star
I know it would be heaven and hell all tied up in one but I would still pounce on the chance.
Thanks for the contest.
Tanyaw1224(at)yahoo(dot)com
I’m so convinced. Rockstars make great heroes because of the total confidence they have to have to get on stage and rock a huge crowd. How do you resist that?
calila1988 @ yahoo . com
You definitely convinced me with Backstage Pass! Would love to read the new book!
Oh, yes! There’s definitely something about a rock star. I just got Backstage Pass, and would love a chance to win Rock Hard!
Thanks for hosting the contest!
Yes, I am definitely convinced! Loved all those reasons, lol!
