Reading Roundup – April 2011

It’s reading roundup time here at Fiction Vixen. Looking at my stats I had a fantabulous month. 8 four star reads!!
Here are the stats for my April reading roundup:

  • 1 – 5 heart rating
  • 8 – 4 heart ratings
  • 1 – 3.5 heart rating
  • 3 – 3 heart ratings
  • 1 – DNF

A Reaper’s Tale – The Undecided Adam Slade – Currently reading

Ecstasy Unveiled (Demonica, #4) Larissa Ione – Currently reading

Insatiable – Cari Quinn 4
I think this was my favorite of the Cari Quinn books I’ve read so far. I really do love her heroes.

Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2) – Chloe Neill 4
This is now one of my favorite UF series.

Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) – Chloe Neill 5
This one had it all for me. Loved it.

Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #4) – Chloe Neill 3
This book was hard to rate. I have mixed feelings.

Tangled Threads (Elemental Assassin, #4) – Jennifer Estep 4
You all know how I feel about Gin. She is my favorite UF heroine and this was another great installment in this series. I want Gin to kick Mab’s ass though. Review to come.

Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) – Larissa Ione 4
I don’t always have the best of luck with PNR that features demons so I’ve put off reading this series even though all my book buddies love it. I really enjoyed this first book. It was very sexy and much darker than I expected.

Desire Unchained (Demonica, #2) – Larissa Ione 4
I totally get what all the fuss is about. Really like this series.

Demons Are a Girl’s Best Friend – Linda Wisdom DNF
I just couldn’t get into this book. After 100 pages I had to move on. I don’t think books like this are for me anymore.

When You Dare – Lori Foster 3.5
I really liked the hero Dare. Cool name, sexy as hell and a bad ass! I didn’t care for the heroine though. Review to come.

Friendly Fire Megan Hart –4
Just finished this one. It’s a short story but still very sexy and well told. Review to come.

Sabine (And the Beast #1) Moira Rogers – 4
A quick read and Moira Rogers did a great job with this one.  Loved the setting, characters and story. This one was sad but had a happy ending. Review to come.

Kisri (And the Beast #2) Moira Rogers – 4
Enjoyed this one as well. I like the world the series is set in. Review to come.

Long Time Coming Scarlett Parrish – 4
I really liked this book. The characters felt real and that’s always important for a contemporary romance to work for me. Even Hyde was totally believable, that dorty fecker :)

That’s my month in books. How did your month compare?  Any recommendations?

You couldn’t get into Demons Are a Girl’s Best Friend? What didn’t you like about it? I read Tangled Threads a couple days ago and loved it! I can’t wait for the next book when Gin has the final confrontation with Mab.

  2. Sophia (FV) says:

@Catherine: I don’t know. I just don’t seem to have good luck with demon books. I just didn’t care for it.

Yes, I was expecting the big showdown with Mab this time. :( Oh well, looking forward to it next time.

  3. Catherine says:

@Sophia (FV): So it was just the demon thing that bugged you? I saw the excerpt for it earlier on FV and was interested. Since I was thinking about reading it I wanted to see what your issue with it was. :)

I can imagine your disappointment if you thought the showdown was in Tangled Threads. I’ve always known that this was a 5 book arc, so I didn’t expect the confrontation until the last book.

Although the 5 book arc hasn’t changed, I’ve heard that the series has been extended to 7 books now.

  4. I’m glad you liked the Demonica books you’ve read so far. I know you didn’t finish Eternal Rider and I was hoping you’d give Larissa’s other books a chance.

Pleasure Unbound is my book clubs read for this month. You’re always welcome make a post talking about your first Demonica experience…..hehe, I had to try :-D
