August is coming! Finally! Listed below are the books that I’m looking forward getting my hot little hands on sometimes during the month. There are 9 titles that I’ve been waiting for—It looks like it’s going to be a really good month for me! I’m looking forward to some of these more than others, but plan to get my hands on all of them, regardless. What books are you guys excited about in August?

*Scheduled for release August 2nd*
It’s Always Been You by Victoria Dahl – I can’t wait for this book! I buy anything Dahl as is, but I also really enjoyed the first book, A Little Bit Wild, and can’t wait to see more of the York family.
The Many Sins of Lord Cameron by Jennifer Ashley – I loved the first book in this series, The Madness of Lord Ian, but was less impressed with the second book, Lady Isabella’s Scandalous Marriage, so I’m hoping this one will knock my socks off.

*Scheduled for release August 2nd*
Working Stiff by Rachel Caine – I adore the Weather Warden and Outcast Season series, but with the one already over, and the other ending soon, I was getting jittery about getting my Rachel Caine fix. So I’m thrilled to have a new series by her to fill the void.
Storm’s Heart by Thea Harrison – The first book in this series, Dragon Bound, got me really excited to read this one. Tiago and Tricks seem like they’ll be a blast to read about. Plus, I’ve heard Tricks gets drunk again, so that ought to be pretty hilarious.

*Scheduled for release August 23rd*
Where Demons Fear to Tread by Stephanie Chong – I can’t wait to try out this new author. I have a bit of a thing for angels and demons, so this seems right up my alley.
Lord of Vampires by Gena Showalter – I’m really excited to try this series out. I think it’s pretty cool that each book is by a different author. I enjoy Showalter’s work, so hopefully this will be a win for me.

*Scheduled for release August 23rd*
Dark Taste of Rapture by Gena Showalter – I just had to feature this one by itself. Do you see that cover? That thing is smoking hot! The color tone, the posture, the tattoos and glow… *sigh* Absolutely perfect. I’ve loved this series from the third book on. I cannot wait to get my hands on this one because it’s sure to be another win.

*Scheduled for release August 30th*
Good Girls Don’t by Victoria Dahl – I originally had this one listed as being released in September, but Amazon and The Book Depository now have it listed as August 30th. So, either I was wrong or the release date changed. Either way, I’m really excited to try another contemporary series by this author. I think she does a great job writing characters who actually seem modern and fun to read, and she can sure bring the heat.
A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare – I’m stoked to try a new series by this author. Dare is a bit of a hit or miss for me, but I’ve found that when she’s on, she’s on, so I’m always in search of that next book by her to blow me away.

I am excited for Storm’s Heart, too!
I hope it’s as fun as I’m expecting to be.
YEA to Lord Cameron!!
Yay!
I CANNOT WAIT for Lord Cameron. I’ve totally had a thing for him since Ian’s book. And I’ve never read a historical from Victoria Dahl – definitely planning to check that out.
I’m very curious about him. And do try Dahl’s historicals! My favorite is A Rake’s Guide to Pleasure. It is such a awesome book.
I got an ARC of Dark Taste of Rapture yesterday and totally did my happy dance. I love that cover. I think the the last two covers for this series are some of my favorite book covers period.
Lucky! I hope it’s awesome.
I liked the last cover, but this one just blows me away. Even my husband thinks it’s awesome.
Very nice picks, Catherine! In addition to “Good Girls Don’t”, “Where Demons Fear to Tread” & “Dark Taste of Rapture”, I’m also looking forward to reading Maya Banks’ “In Bed with a Highlander” & Jackson Pearce’s “Sweetly”. Frost’s “One Grave at a Time” is coming out next month. Usually I’d be jumping up & down like an idiot but after the FUBAR that was “This Side of the Grave” I’m apathetic. It’s a sad thing indeed when a series you love goes downhill.
I gave up on the Night Huntress series after I got so pissed about the 4th book, so it’s not one I’m planning to get. I will jump on Vlad’s book eventually, though.
Lord Cameron!!! Love that series!
I adored the first book.
I got the new Victoria Dahl book from NetGalley and can’t wait to read it! Sounds like my kind of heroine
.
I’m keeping the book for sure, so I’m buying a paper copy. I’ll watch for your (eventual) updates on the book.
I’m looking for to One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost. I’m in need to a Bones boost. Wait…
Great picks Catherine!
A lot of people are ready to pounce as soon as that one comes out.
I’m also excited about Storm’s Heart and both of Showalter’s books as well as Good Girls Don’t. Also looking forward to Maya Bank’s In Bed with a Highlander, Eve Silver’s Body of Sin, and Lauren Dane’s Once and Again.
Chong’s slant on guardian angels reminded me of the TV show Touched by an Angel.
How so?
Didn’t the angels in Touched by an Angel use to be people who died after sacrificing themselves for another? Maybe I’m thinking of another show. Well, that’s how these guardian angels are made. After their death, they live amongst humans while they train to become full fledged guardian angels.
Ah, I see. I can’t really confirm or deny since I don’t remember the show very well.
I NEED the new Jennifer Ashley. Need so bad!
You’ll get your fix soon, junkie.
I am looking forward to the new Alien Huntress book as well. I love, love, love Gena Showalter. Unfortunately, the Lord of the Vampires was not good for me. It was probably one of my least favorites of hers, ever (And I’ve read 20 or so of her books.)
I am uber-excited about Storm’s Heart! And while I will read the new Night Huntress book, the last one disappointed me.
Great post!

Really?
What were your issues with it?
I think I went in the spam folder again.
Jen, I’m thinking our spam filter must be grabbing your comments because you are putting a link in your comment? It shouldn’t be that sensitive but that’s the only thing I can think of. FYI, your blog is linked with your comment automatically when you fill out the comment form.
I’ll see if I can add your IP to a whitelist or something to keep you from getting tossed into the spam can.
I think you’re right. It’s such a habit to sign my posts that way. I just need to remember not to do it here.
I’m looking for a way to whitelist you.
Oh, I cannot wiat for 8/2 for Storm’s Heart to come out! The teaser at the end of Dragon Bound was all sorts of awesome.
It really whet my appetite.
I’m DYING for Working Stiff!!!
It looks great!
I cannot wait for the Mackenzie book. *drools* It’s been pre-ordered long ago *g*
Now I just realize I need to preorder Storm’s Heart too *headdesk*
I was (well still am) very excited about the King’s Courtesan by Judith James. I just finished it and I can’t wait to get my hands on a print copy.
Hmm, I haven’t heard of that one. I’ll have to go take a look at it.
Glad you posted these! I useful preview. (Hope you do this regularly.) I have never read Dahl, but love the cover. Yes, she laughed, I often buy books by their covers, esp with new authors!
Color me Reckless!
I’m glad you liked the post.
Yes, I’m hoping to do one every month from now on. I can’t blame you for buying based on covers. I have to admit, I have done the same thing a few times. It’s hard to imagine the book could be bad when the cover is so awesome.
