This is not a cover reveal per se, since the book comes out next month, but I’m late to the party and wanted to draw attention to it. I’ve heard that Lord and Lady Spy by Shana Galen is similar to the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but in a historical setting. I think that this book has the potential to be really, really good or really, really lame. I don’t know about you guys, but I plan to tune in to find out. I loved that movie!

Darker Still is the first book in the Magic Most Foul series by Leanna Renee Hieber. Goodreads describes it as “The Picture of Dorian Gray meets Pride and Prejudice, with a dash of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” That description has me excited. I want!

How to Dance with a Duke seems like it might be on the lighter end of the HR spectrum, but it also seems like it could be good fun. This appears to be the debut book for author Manda Collins, which is exciting because I’m always on the lookout for new blood.

I told you I’d keep an eye out for it, and so I have. We finally have a cover for the final book in Simon R. Green’s Nightside series, The Bride Wore Black Leathers. I still haven’t had a chance to try the series out, but it’s on my list. I’ve heard it’s great.

I’ve noticed more and more Christmas themed books popping up. I guess it’s getting to be that time of year. Lady Sophie’s Christmas Wish will be releasing in October and seems to feature a ‘bah humbug’ sort of hero. I’ve heard impressive things about Grace Burrowes but have to admit I haven’t tried her yet. Have any of you?

I just read the first book in the Dark Dynasties series and was intrigued. Kendra Leigh Castle has created an interesting world filled with politics and prejudices. I can’t wait to get to try Midnight Reckoning so I can see how the hero, Jaden, will reconcile with his heroine being a werewolf. He seemed very sneering toward that breed in the first book.
*****

I have only read Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel series and was surprised (I don’t know why) to find out she wrote this one as well. It looks interesting. Have any of you read her? Are you guys anticipating Saints Astray?

Another short notice mention. His Mistress by Christmas is releasing next month and is keeping up with the red dress cover theme I’ve noticed in HR. Victoria Alexander is another light HR author, but she manages to stay light without being fluffy. I have a ton of her books that I pull out when I’m looking for something to make me smile. I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.

Jennifer Ashley has announced that there will be a fifth and sixth book in the Highland Pleasures series. The Seduction of Elliot McBride will release in January of 2013 and The Life and Love of Daniel Mackenzie will release in October of the same year.
*****
Jeaniene Frost has unveiled the title for the first book in Vlad’s series. The title is… Dun, dun, DUN… Once Burned! Be on the lookout for it in March of 2012.
*****
Sherry Thomas will be releasing a new book called Beguiling the Beauty in May of 2012. It feels like it has been a while since we’ve seen something new from her, so I know many fans will be pleased.
*****
Emma Wildes will have a new series coming out in 2012 and 2013. The Ruined series will feature Benjamin Wallace, the Earl of Heathton.

I read The Heir by Grace Burrowes last month and loved it. Which is saying a lot because I’m really picky with Historical Romance.
That’s good to hear. What kind of style does she have? Light and fun or subtle and complicated?
Well it’s a little bit of both, if that makes sense.
Interesting. I like an author that can navigate both of those styles.
I hadn’t noticed the red dress trend in Historical Romance but I probably will now. LOL. Any gorgeous dress on a cover makes me happy though.
I probably noticed because I’ve looked at so many covers lately. I love the pretty dresses as well.
Ooh – so many exciting things in this post. First, a Grace Burrowes Christmas book! I loved both The Soldier and The Heir, so I’ll definitely check that out. Second – yes, it’s definitely been too long since Sherry Thomas wrote something. I want her to write faster.
Last, very excited for Daniel Mackenzie’s book, but 2013?? Really?? I’m bummed to have to wait until next year for Hart’s book, so two years seems like an interminable wait. Thanks for all this excellent info!
I know, 2013 seems like forever!
Okay, finally I have my avatar for wordpress. Thanks for the link at gravatar, Catherine
Looking forward to read Lord and Lady Spy. Not just have same vibe like Mr & Mrs Smith, the character name is Lord and Lady Smythe
. And I love How to Dance with a Duke’s cover. The white cover make it outstanding from all cover that already posted here, IMO.
BTW, I just found out the title for new Psy-Changeling books, its called Tangle of Need. Got it from Wicked Scribes site, and the link to pre-order it is up at Amazon

Nice gravatar.
Thanks for the head’s up, Ren! Wicked Scribes is always on the ball.
I enjoyed The Heir by Grace Burrowes, but if you are a stickler for historical accuracy, you probably wouldn’t like it as the plot is pretty implausible for the times. Still I’ve been planning to read her others. I’m really looking forward to Sherry Thomas’ new one. Her books are so wonderfully intense and angsty.
Hmm, I’ll have to take a look to see what the setup is. Yes, Thomas has quite a wonderfully heavy style.
Thanks for the shout-out and the lovely compliments on the cover. The St. Martin’s Press art department is fabulous:)
I like the white and the eye contact. Very nice.
These are all great covers!
Agreed.
Oh, great. More books to add to my overgrown TBR! None of the covers stand out for me but the story lines sure do.
I have to agree that none of them wow me, but none of them turn me off either, thank goodness. Which books struck your fancy enough to add to the TBR pile of doom?
So far, only Darker Still. I’m thinking about adding “Lord & Lady Spy”-I loved Mr. & Mrs. Smith too!-& “How to Dance with a Duke”. I can’t believe I’ve only read 10 historical romances this year. I need to step it up!
*cracks the whip* Get on it!
May read the Lord and Lady Spy and I think she really liked it!
Once Burned – SO READY!!
Once Burned – SO READY!!
