Guest Post + Giveaway: Louisa Bacio – Perfect Reading Time

Fiction Vixen is pleased to welcome Louisa Bacio today.

The Lull – Perfect Reading Time!

Are you catching your breath between the lull of Christmas and New Year’s Eve? A lot of businesses close down this time of year, and so do the schools. I’m enjoying spending some time with my family, and relaxing.

Hopefully, I’ll also get to one of my favorite pastimes – reading! Before my oldest daughter learned how to read, I’d send the girls to “winter camp” for a few days. Once she understood what, “Vacation – no School” on the calendar meant, that was over!

There’s a certain excitement that comes with vacation time, and a sense of freedom. (OK, and I have to admit that the littlest one, who’s almost five, can get bored without a strict schedule!) Me? It’s nice to be home and not worry about having to be somewhere at a certain time … i.e. early in the morning.

For New Year’s Eve, we go to a friend’s house. They have children who are a similar age, and we make edible goodies, and there’s plenty of wine drinking happening. On New Year’s Day, my husband usually goes to the Rose Bowl – for those who don’t know, college championship football game in California. But … since his favorite home team, USC, received sanctions against them a few years ago that means they’re not allowed to play! While he’s heartbroken, I don’t mind him being home with us!

Comment to win – Ends Jan 1 (winners announced next week):

Any hot plans for the end of the year? (Did you make any resolutions yet?) How do you most often spend your winter break? One lucky commenter will win a .pdf copy of my erotic paranormal The Vampire, The Witch & The Werewolf: A New Orleans Threesome.

Following is a teaser in the recently released sequel, Chains of Silver:

The Vampire, The Witch & The Werewolf 2: Chains of Silver

Adopted at birth, Silver Ashe discovers her blood-brother Trevor Pack is a werewolf, with a vampire and witch for lovers. All her teachings about the evils of the paranormal Others come into question. She runs to a family friend, Nick, for help.

Nick Stake takes his hobby as a vampire hunter personally. He strives to rid the world of evil bloodsuckers. When his best friend’s “kid” sister comes to him for advice, Nick discovers Silver’s more than grown up. He battles his growing desire for Silver and blindly holds true to his convictions.

Once Silver reaches her sexual maturity, she’ll inherit her full genetic heritage and turn into a werewolf. When death comes calling, Silver and Nick must face their darkest fears in order to break free from the chains that bind.

  1. Happy Holidays Louisa. I am so enjoying this lull time, too. I’m off work and it’s all about eating good food and relaxing. I just finished a cozy mystery I got for Christmas and I plan to start another book soon (though I do need to get some writing time in.)

As for New Year’s resolutions, I want to shape up and lose a few pounds. Somehow I’m going to make it happen. ( :

  2. Tonya says:

During the Christmas break, I like to relax when I can & get lost in a good book!!! Christmas Finner is usually at my house. Afterwards, it’s chillin’ time!!! My family & I don’t usually do much for New Years. My kids will be in bed before midnight on New Year’s Eve. My hubby & I will stay up & toast to the New Year!!

Thanks for the chance to win!! Happy New Year!!

  4. Louisa Bacio says:

Tonya — lol. Was thinking about combos like brinner!

Gabriella — thanks for stopping by! I finished sn older Robyn Carr last night!

  5. Arianne says:

I don’t usually make up any resolutions. But for this coming year, I hope to stay organize and save my money instead of just buying whatever.

  6. Susan W. says:

Since school is out for the holiday break I usually stay home and try to read and relax but so far that hasn’t happened! Darn it! I have a friend who doesn’t understand why I would want to just stay home and read when I could be on the phone with her or going somewhere. Hum, read or talk on the phone… READ!

  7. Diane says:

Any hot plans for the end of the year?
NO just some time alone with my hubby at home.
Did you make any resolutions yet?
Not making any, I disappoint myself.
How do you most often spend your winter break?
I don’t have a winter break but when I’m off it usually snows and I’m outside shoveling the white stuff.

  8. Stacy C. says:

I would like to tell you that I read all day curled on the couch with a fresh cup of coffee……..but I would be LYING!! I have kids who are home on winter break so I’m going CRAZY!! Getting them out of the house helps alot so I’ve been trying to always have something planned. We have snow where I live so maybe sledding next. Anyways, thank you for the opportunity to win your book! It sounds like something I would enjoy. (I do love a good erotic story)
    Happy Holidays!

  9. Victoria Zumbrum says:

Please enter me in contest. I would love to read these books. Tore923@aol.com

  10. Chelsea says:

My plans are to work out often. I received a gym membership for christmas, so I will have a perfect excuse to go, otherwise my sister will never let me hear the end of it! (She gave me the membership) Thanks for the giveaway! :)

  11. Louisa Bacio says:

Arianne — With some things I’m organized. Others … not so much. Good goal for 2012!

Susan — I’m not much of a phone person. As a teenager, yes. These days … it’s tough. But it’s after having kids and you can’t have a conversation!

  12. Louisa Bacio says:

Diane — I’m a warm-weather gal! It was in the 70s today in California, and actually went to a hotel a friend was staying at and went swimming. Yes, total jealous!

Oh, and that goes with Stacy’s comment, too! Had the kids OUT swimming in hopes of tiring them out. (Hasn’t worked yet!)

Victoria — Thanks for stopping by!

Chelsea — is your sister going to work out with you? Good to have a buddy.

  13. June M. says:

I don’t generally make any New Year’s Resolutions, they always end up broken. When I just do something for myself, to make needed changes, I tend to do better. Last year, I quit smoking in December, after over 20 years (started really young). This year, I am planning on just making healthier choices: Eating better, get more exercise, lose weight for my health.
    Have a wonderful New Year’s!

  14. Carla S. says:

I hope to exercise more and loose a little weight. Thanks for the giveaway.

  15. Need to lower my cholesterol, according to my PCP, so I guess it’s a good thing they had to take my gallbladder out. Need to keep quiet so I’m reading some good romance novels. One can always dream!

    Happy New Years everyone!
