Bannockburn Binding is an M/M/F, erotic novella about vampires. Well, you had me at M/M/F erotic and vampires! The premise is a concept I had never read before. In the 23rd century vampires have figured out a way to travel back in time. To protect history an agency is created to where only certain time travel is allowed.
Tally is on a trip, acting as a guide, back to 1314 where customer wants to view the siege of Stirling Castle. While there, Rob MacKenzie happens upon them. He does not know why they are there or what their purpose is so he takes them captive. One of the quirks of time travels is that all vampire powers basically go into stasis. Any vampire traveling back in time is essentially human. Rob and Tally are very much attracted to each other and cannot help themselves from acting upon that attraction and because Tally is human some interesting problems arise.
Christian “Lee” is sent back in time to find Tally and bring her home. Lee and Tally have been in a complicated relationship for some time so it is very important to Lee to get Tally home. Once he arrives, he realizes that will not be as easy as it should be. Tally is pregnant and cannot travel back home because nobody knows what will happen to the baby. They cannot take the risk the baby will be harmed- as this is almost unheard of- a human and vampire having a baby!
Tally, Rob and Lee all form a very close relationship. Rob declared that he if will not be able to go back with Tally and his son that Lee must join their group so Rob can have confidence they will both be taken care of. This leads to some pretty smokin’ hot sex as the trio develop a bond.
There were some things I didn’t necessarily follow in the book. Rob brings Tally back to his camp but nobody ever seems to see her or them together. Several times she screams out in ecstasy but it is never questioned. What does the rest of the army think is going on in that tent??! There were also a lot of comings and goings with people from the future. Lots of doctors and whatnot there to look over Tally. I don’t see how all of that could go on without anybody from the current time at least noticing something.
While the story of Tally, Rob and Lee is going on there is another one in the background. I followed that story but didn’t really see how it connected to the main one. I was pleasantly surprised when the end of the book brought a little, quirky twist and tied the two stories together. That part of the story was very well done!
So if you are looking for a short but hot M/M/F novella this would be the story for you! Final Grade- C+
Favorite Quote:
Laying siege could be a mighty boring business. That was why he found the lass in the first place, and why he kept her, in the second. That was the excuse Rob would always give himself.
