Yesterday was Groundhog day. Phil saw his shadow so that means six more weeks of winter. Where I live, that doesn’t make much difference but those of you in colder climates, bundle up!
I don’t know about you but I can’t think about Groundhog day without thinking about Bill Murray. It’s impossible.
Book News!! I read on the USA Today romance blog Happy Ever After that Kresley Cole will be releasing a new YA series called The Arcana Chronicles. The first book, Poison Princessis due out in October.
Poison Princess centers on 16-year-old Evangeline “Evie” Greene, a privileged teenager from Louisiana. When an apocalyptic event decimates her hometown, killing everyone she loves, Evie realizes the hallucinations she’d been having for the past year were actually visions of the future — and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux. As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophecy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of teens have been chosen to re-enact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side …
I’m a big fan Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series but not a huge fan of the Young Adult genre. But, I can’t say no to Kresley Cole. I’m going to give this series a try. What about you? Any takers? Even if you hate YA, will you try this new series just because it’s Kresley Cole?
Mandi over at Smexy Books recently read Broken By Megan Hart. I read this book a long time ago and it completely wrecked me. It left me totally, emotionally spent. Mandi had pretty much the same reaction. I thought I had healed and moved on (I know, drama queen that I am) but when I started talking about the book with Mandi, all the same emotions bubbled up to the surface once again. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so deeply impacted by a book before. If you’re looking for a deeply emotional book that takes huge chances, and goes places most romances do not dare to go, pick this one up. This book won’t be for everyone though. Be warned.
What I’m reading:
Catherine recommended that I read Christoper Moore after hearing how much I liked the humor in The Bro Magnet. So I grabbed an audio copy of Blood Sucking Fiends and have been cackling my ass off for two days. (It’s takes me longer to get through an audio books since I only listen while doing dishes etc.) Seriously, I have been laughing out loud. This is a paranormal comedy. I hesitate to call it a romance though. It’s not very romancy. There is a sort-of romance going on, and there was a really brief sex scene, but I’m not ready to call this a romance. But it is damn funny.
I’m also reading Taking A Shot by Jaci Burton. (Yes I used the big version of the cover, can you blame me?) Here’s why you should read it too:
Stand-up sex. On the ice. With ice skates on. omg…
Moira Rogers had a couple of recent cover reveals lately. I love how excited Bree gets about the Moira Rogers covers. Every time she tweets one I get excited for her LOL. check these out:
Impulse coming in September 04, 2012
Archer’s Lady coming July 03, 2012

Our very own Samantha is in training to ride AIDS/LifeCycle 11. She did the charity ride last year and is so badass she’s hitting the road again this eyar. Last year she tied her red ribbon from Red Dress Day ALC10 to her helmet. This year, she’s doing something a little different. Here is what she says:
If you have donated to my fundraising for AIDS/LifeCycle 11 or are considering donating, and you have lost someone or a loved one to HIV/AIDS or have a loved one affected by HIV/AIDS, I would love to honor that person during the ride.
Some of you have already provided a name and don’t worry, I have notes written down! I had originally planned on writing the name of each person on the big banner they have at orientation day. And I will still do that! But I remembered I still have my red ribbon I received on Day 5 (red dress day) of ALC 10. I tied it onto the back of my helmet and rode with it the rest of the Ride. This year, I’m going to write the names of loved ones given to me by my supporters on the red ribbon and ride with it tied to my helmet during all 7 days.
Visit Samantha’s blog for more information and to see how you can help out.
I am frequently asked if I do blog design. The answer is no. Although I design Fiction Vixen, I am not a professional by any means. It takes me a long time to put together a blog design and so unfortunately I just don’t have the time to do it for others. I would like to be able to give a list of web/blog designer recommendations when someone asks me about blog design though. So, I’m asking you, who creates awesome, great looking blogs? I’ll be happy to pass their names and links along to those who inquire.
Game of Thrones is coming!! I can freaking wait!!
I still mourn the moobs. *sobs* That’s it for me this week. Have a great weekend!! Love—FV

Broken. *SNIFFLE* hold me.
Starting Dirty next week.
I’m SO ready for Game of Thrones. Bring it.
Pretty sure that stand-up sex with ice skates on is my new favorite position. omg.
I think you’ll enjoy Dirty. <3 Elle.
Kresley Cole is going to do YA? Hmmm, I’m not sure if I’ll try those or not. I enjoy her IAD series, but most of the stuff I love about it seems to be the unabashed violence, wrong humor, and off-the-wall humor. And the sex. I don’t think that would translate well to YA. But time will tell. *shrug*
I like the cover for Impulse! I’m excited to read it.
I’m glad you’re enjoying your first taste of Christopher Moore!
I can’t say no to Kresley Cole but I do have my reservations. We’ll see.
You can be my test dummy. You read it first and give me the all clear.
Kresley Cole and YA seems like an odd combination. I love the hot sex, the snarky attitudes and the violence in her books. I normally find YA books to be watered down and boring, I’m not sure Cole could change my opinion of that. I’ll probably give it a change.
I’m going to have to check out Broken to see if it’s something I want to deal with.
Ann Aguirre writes really hot sex scenes and violence etc. but also writes YA that I love so I’m hoping KC can do it too.
Thanks for including info about ALC and the red ribbon. You are awesome!
I’ll never forget the moment or the way I felt when I read Broken and read the part about her husband. Oh. My.
It’s so weird because all my feelings about that book came rushing back like a tidal wave when Mandi and started talking about it. Like I had just finished reading it. Amazing.
I hope you continue to enjoy the wackiness that is Bloodsucking Fiends. It is one of my favorite Christopher Moore books.
I’m really going to miss those moobs next season too. A damn shame, it is.
Uh, Sophia, you failed to mention the Stand-up sex. On the ice. With ice skates on. part when you emailed me about this book the other day. This is very important info that needs to be mentioned. Definitely picking up this book SOON.
I <3 Samantha. Did she tell you I have a crush on her cat? She has the most gorgeous cat eva.
And I really, really want to read Broken soon. I have to know what all the emo is about.
Happy Friday
Oh whoops! Are you saying the stand up sex on the ice with ice skates would have influenced you? *innocent face*
Uh, yeah! LOL
Well, there is a lot of sex in the book. There. Now you know.
Awww…my cat is a little pistol. Don’t let that face fool you! I should do a blog post about how she came into our life.
Good idea!!
I loved Groundhog Day and I used to think of Bill Murray every time I heard GhD but now I think of PK. Why? Cause that’s our anniversary. We didn’t actually mean to get married on that day. I swear! It just happened to be the day that was most convenient for us to get married. So romantic, I know.
I’m totally reading the Kresley Cole YA book(s). Because I like YA and I LOVE Kresley Cole.
Megan Hart is my most favorite author in the wide world and Broken is my most favorite book, even though it makes me snot son every single time I read it. Dirty is a very close second, and it has a personal meaning to me. I can’t wait to see what Mandi has to say about it.
Christopher Moore rocks my world. That is all.
Jeebus that cover!! *fans self* Jaci Burton’s covers are SMOKIN HOT!
Lol I love Bree’s reactions to her new covers. Though I can’t blame her – they’re pretty freaking awesome.
We lost our cousin Bill to complications of AIDS a few years ago. I love Samantha for riding in the name of others and I want to give her the biggest hug ever. Now I need to go cry for a minute.
Oh I’m sorry to hear about your cousin. Samantha is amazing for putting is so much time and hard work for this cause. I want to hug her too.
@MamaKitty – I’ll be sure to write your cousin’s name Bill on my red ribbon! *hugs*
Thank you Samantha. It means a lot to our family.
Broken is one book that I read that has stayed with me since. Megan took a big risk and for me it paid off. Not your typical book. You will love Dirty. There is an epilogue to Dirty. Its a Spice Brief, so you better hurry to get it.
Marika
It’s amazing the strong emotions that book brings out in people. Some people throw it across the room far, far away from them. Others, like me, are riveted. Uncomfortable, but riveted.
It was uncomfortable but I didn’t throw mine copy across the room. I will admit to putting it down a couple of times. Megan was the first “erotic” author that I read and I was completely riveted. She opened a brand new door for to walk through.
Again, you will love Dirty. Deals with an uncomfortable topic but it is dealt with beautifully.
Marika
I put it down three times when I first started it. It made me very emotional right from the start. I’m so glad I went back to it though.
Oh, I so don’t blame you for using the big cover. Makes it more obvious he’s going commando
And if he’s not going commando, then he’s got some serious skillz to be able to hide undies under those jeans.
I might need to start watching hockey. But only if all the player walk around in low slung, unbuttoned jeans.
I don’t read YA. I don’t need pubescent angst in my readings.
I will check out Kresley Cole’s new series though. I loved the younger characters in her IAD books. I’m sure she’ll make it work.
Same.
I read A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore. It was definitely a different kind of book. Funny, but different.
That one is next on my “for fun” TBR.
I have to wait till Sept. 4th for Impulse?!?!
Oh wow, I didn’t realize it was that far off!
Great post. I also am not into YA at all, but I will try the first Kresley Cole. I bought the first Lynn Viehl YA as well, but still have it unread on my shelf. I am so happy to see more peope say they don’t like YA, as most blogs I follow seem more and more dedicated to YA books. Perhaps I need to change some.
