Question: What do you get when you pair a brash, domineering, Irish firefighter with a gorgeous, buff, masculine cop?
Answer: Two extremely hot roommates who take the plunge from friends to friends with benefits. Sound the alarms, arm yourself with a tall glass of ice water and strap in for a sexy ride.
After shooting a teenager in the line of duty, Gavin Connolly is drowning his sorrows in alcohol with his friend and roommate, Brad Archer. Depressed, vulnerable and a little drunk, Gavin admits to Brad he is insecure with his sexuality and decides he has nothing to loose in acting upon the sexual tension that has permeated between them for months. Now that Gavin has made his move, literally onto Brad’s lap and into a passionate kiss, Brad decides he will surrender to the lust he has felt for Gavin but quickly determines their relationship will be sex only with no strings. Knowing his own rejection by his family and members of society, Brad does not want Gavin subjected to the harsh scrutiny he himself once faced. However, this admission of attraction is no knee jerk reaction by Gavin. He has wanted Brad for months and he is determined to face whatever society throws their way in order to explore a meaningful relationship.
“You want it from a man? You’re gonna get it the way I like it. Let go of your dick or go find yourself a girlfriend.”
There are two things I have come to expect and enjoy in reading a story by Kele Moon:
A) Ms. Moon will deliver unique and memorable characters that always emanate incredible chemistry, heated desire and usually a dirty talker in the mix. (Oh yes, Brad brought the filthy mouth in the moment and it was yummy!)
B) Ms. Moon will dish out deliciously carnal smut that will set your libido into overdrive. (Seriously, I arm myself with a fan and ice water every time I submit to her books.)
Overall, the story focused on the fears and feelings that both men had problems facing once their friendship moved beyond buddies to sexual partners. The only issues I had was that the transition from friends to hot and heavy lovers was a bit abrupt with really no conflict other than Brad worrying about Gavin’s family/friends scrutinizing him if he professed being in an open homosexual relationship. Also, the “I love you” declarations from both characters were a little far fetched given the length of time their relationship formed as lovers/partners and I believe it would have been more authentic without the typical adorations of love.
Although the story was short, Ms. Moon created a fire hazard with two scorching, sultry males that learn how to balance a caring, committed relationship with the hot and heavy heat they produce in the bedroom!

When I was younger, much younger, books with this subject matter were kept in the closet – no pun intended – and read at night with a flashlight. You wouldn’t dare mention two men in love (gasp)! Authors and readers now have the freedom to explore for what subjects and characters their hearts desire. I love it! An author’s imagination nor a reader’s desire should never be kept in the dark or criticized! Bring it on!
Love this genre, especially the friends to lovers, and if Packing Heat has the incendiary value of Finding Eden I’ll be needing the industrial AC
It sounds so good. I need a new author to read. Thanks for the chance!
Count em in, please! Firefighters and cops? Yummy!
