No, I really think I am in the minority! I think most people love her work and this book.

ITA with your comparison to Terrible as far as the way he spoke. I was going to refer to it as downspeak but I didn't know how many people would get the reference so I ended up not using it.

Sigh... I guess I'm in the minority. I love this book with all my heart. I've read it 3 times and it just gets me every time. I think the dialogue bothered me on the first read, but he was just so freaking sweet (yes, I called him sweet) and by the second read I was hearing his voice in my head. (He reminds me of a cross between Rehvenge from BDB and Terrible from Downside Ghosts.)
I confess I have a lower standard for self-pubbed books as far as grammar/punctuation goes since I don't think it's easy to edit your own work effectively (the only self-pub author who seems to escape these problems for me is R.Lee Smith, but I digress). What I look for is connection to the characters and emotion and I loved Anya and Knight. The "Daddy" stuff didn't bother me all that much (although I will NEVER be unpacking that in the bedroom!) since he made a distinction at one point between a girl's "Dad" (father) and "Daddy" (boyfriend).
One thing I think I appreciate about the book is that I have been so let down in the past by villainous characters getting sanitized in their own books in a series ("Devil in Winter" and "Lover Avenged" both come to mind) so that all the thorny issues that should be rearing up in the way of True Love are really not there any longer. So, when I read a book (even one not part of a series) wherein the hero has real and genuine dark and stormy issues I really like seeing how they play into the story!

I can deal with some errors, but too many really distract from the story. And it sounds as if this authors voice won't appeal to me. Or the storyline. Great review.
