Giveaway: To Sin With A Scoundrel by Cara Elliot

A reclusive widow known for her scientific scholarship, Lady Ciara Sheffield is shadowed by rumors that she poisoned her husband . . . A rakehell rogue notorious for his devil-may-care antics, Lucas Bingham–the Earl of Hadley–is not accused of murdering anything–save
for the rules of Polite Society. The only thing they have in common is
seeing their names featured in the lurid gossip columns of London’s
newspapers. Until an ancient manuscript draws them together.

Ciara needs a titled fiancé to quell the slanderous speculations which may send her to the gallows. Lucas needs brilliant scholar to help his
elderly uncle decipher the secrets of the mysterious manuscript. So when her friends urge her to accept the earl’s proposal of a temporary alliance, Ciara decides that she has no choice but to make a deal with the Devil. And so begins a seductive dance of sinful pleasures and hidden desires as the two of them waltz through the mansions of Mayfair. Lies, intrigue, treachery, sex. They find themselves facing slanderous whispers, unscrupulous relatives-not to speak of their own simmering passions, which quickly ignite into dangerous flames. It’s a potent mix and the result may be explosive-and perhaps deadly-if they don’t watch their step.

Historical Romance fans here’s your chance to win a copy of Cara Elliott’s new novel, To Sin With A Scoundrel.  If you’re participating in a Historical Romance challenge for 2010 why not put To Sin With A Scoundrel on your challenge list?

Here is something you may or may not know.  Cara Elliot is actually a pen name for Andrea Pickens, author of a number of award-winning Regency-set historical romances.  She says the reason for the pen name is she is taking her writing in a new direction and she and her editors thought it deserved a new pen name.  And here’s why:

[…]the upcoming books are more SEXY than ever!

As Cara Elliott, I slide into a sexy, slinky little black dress. My debut trilogy is called ‘The Circle of Sin’ and features three beautiful, brainy heroines. Each of them is a brilliant scientist—and each of them has a dark secret in her past. Experience has taught Ciara, Alessandra, and Kate that men are dangerous devils. But when an old mistake threatens utter ruin and scandal, each of the ‘Sinners’ is forced to accept help from an unexpected hero . . .

So if you’re already a fan of Andrea Pickens, you’re sure to love the first novel in her Circle of Sin series.

Five Fun Facts From The Author:

Research is always a fun part of writing a Regency-set historical romance. In To Sin With a Scoundrel, my heroine is the object of nasty gossip because she dares to be smart so I had a fascinating time visiting London and exploring the lives of real-life scandalous women. Here are a few of the interesting things that I learned:

1. Over 20,000 satirical prints were published in London between 1770 and 1830, and the famous artists were even more ruthless than our modern paparazzi at showing the celebrities of the day at their worst!

2. Lord Byron’s daughter, Augusta Ada Byron King, the Countess of Lovelace, was a mathematical genius—in fact, the U.S. Defense department has named one of its computer programs “ADA” in her honor.

3. You can find amazing original miniatures of Regency beauties and buck of the ton at antique markets on Portobello Road  . . . but they don’t come cheap!

4. You can tell what regiment a Guardsman belongs to by the arrangement of the buttons on his red tunic.

5. If I could choose a dream house in London, I would love to live in Apsley House, the Duke of Wellington’s private residence, and throw a tea party using all the incredible silver and china that was given to him by a grateful Europe for winning the Battle of Waterloo.

I am a fan of historical romances. I prefer highlanders and knights. The older the time period the better. This would be a new author for me.

    Thank you for sharing!

I have not tried pirates yet, I see some new books in my future! I have a deeper appreciation for historical due to the amount of research it involves. To get everything right. I mean futuristic reads and paranormal reads… you can kinda (NOT all the way, I know) but you can kinda make up as you go along… But historcial.. time periods, clothing, speech and everything else is crucial! Thanks for giving us a chance to win!

I love most historical romance. I am not picky about place or setting. I do tend to gravitate toward those hunky Highlanders, but that's because they tend to be so alpha…okay, okay…I love a man in a kilt! But London's scoundrels are certainly hot too!

I LOVE Historical Romance novels….My favorite time period is about 1700-1900…and I don't care if they are in England, America or at sea.

What I do prefer is…my romance novels alittle on the hotter/sexier side. It seems to me that most books are either (warm) or (erotic) and I like them in the middle….If that makes sense??

I do not read a lot of historical romances, or romances in general. However, that doesn't mean I am not interested. I have been, of late, digging into Elizabeth Hoyt's books. I would love to read this book.

Yea! More full length historicals from Andrea Pickens! I'm adored the Merlins series and A Kiss of Spice as A DaRif. And her smaller Regencies are terrific, too. Can't wait to read her books under the new name.

I'm pretty new to historical romance, having only read 2 in the last few years. Thus, I'm open to periods, but sometimes have a hard time with particularly think accents (damn Highlanders) or heavy 'old speak' (thy, thou, thine, etc).
