Random Friday the 13th: Earbuds, Lesbian Horse Stories and More

Happy Friday the 13th!  I’m scared, I need a hug.

Actually, it’s Thursday night for me but you’ll see this on Friday.  I’m tricky like that.  Let’s get right to it shall we?

For all of you who have been holding your breath since last Random Friday, you can exhale now.  I bought new earbuds and I’m back in business.  I might be an idiot but I went with the Skull Candy buds again. I like the name ok?  I’ve got my audio book on the iPod and I’m ready to go.  I’ll be listening to the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs while I fold laundry, sweep the walk and generally slave away.  I have a feeling I will want to read this series as well as listen, it’s off to a good start.

Since I’m all a flutter with Kindle 3 giddiness, I’ve been reading all sorts of Kindle news, anywhere I can get it.  I heard that the Amazon is now offering games for the Kindle.  Shuffled Row, and  Every Word are both available in the Kindle store.  One is free and the other is not available but has good ratings.  I’m confused by this but whatever.  Anyway, I think I’ll take a pass, I like reading on my dedicated e-reader but for those of you who like to multi-task, there you go.  Enjoy.

I heard about Pocket After Dark on twitter and then was reminded about it when Mandi at Smexy Books posted about it.  It’s an online community, and looks like they’ve got some fun things available for readers of romance and urban fantasy.  They are offering free books as well so check it out.  I registered recently so add me as a friend!

I saw this over at Kittling Books the other day and thought it was funny.  What Does Your Desk Say About You?  Kind of freaked me out because it totally nailed me.  Here are my results:

You Are an Organized Worker

You are a very private person. You don’t open up easily, and you don’t open up to just anyone.
You draw a lot of inspiration and energy from your own internal world. You get bored easily around other people.
You are confident and competent. You tend to not make mistakes, and you trust your judgment. <—–Yes, that is totally me *snort*
You are down to earth and practical. You achieve success one step at a time, by paying attention to details.

Go take the quiz and then tell me what your desk says about you.

Online College.org has the 25 worst book covers of all time.  Check it, some of them are pretty bad.

And on that note, there’s this:

Where do I get this one?  Really?  Where?  That chick on the left is scary and could put my eye out with that nip!  The girl on the right looks skeert.  Here’s the Amazon PURCHASE LINK in case you want to put this baby in my Christmas stocking. :)

By the way, I read and reviewed my first full fledged F/F romance this week.  The cover was much nicer I assure you.

Happy Friday everyone!!  xoxo

whhhooo hooo for the kindle coming to the UK at the same time as the US…. not sure if I am going to get it, but it's really cheap – but DRM , DRM is my problem… at least this new one will take pdf…

I did that poll, cute… it just told me what I already knew – I am a goddess…LOL

I know that cover (lebian cover)from somewhere… it's going to annoy me now until I figure it out…

Fun post… hope the earphones are working out well for you…

I think i'll wait untill the boys go back to school before I start any more audio books…

LOL-I'd buy that book just for the cover.

I took the quiz. It said I was creative. That's a nice way to say I'm messy & disorganized. :)

I did Covet on audio book and am doing the Death series/J.D.Robb on audio. I just might have to check out Mercedes Thompson that way!

The lesbian cover is freakin hilarious. The nip is scarrrry enough to poke your eye out permanently!

Games on K3? Would not have considered that.

Glad you got a good working set of skulls!

Have a great weekend FV! :)

I have old coffee cups and oatmeal on my desk…I don't think this means I'm creative, more like a slob.

Yea for new earbuds! I wouldn't get anything housework related done without my audiobooks. I've been hearing great things about Patricia Briggs, but haven't read anything yet. Let us know how those work out in audio!

oh! And I finally found out what EDGE coverage is for Kindle. Altho still no idea how fast/slow the connection really is.

For areas without 3G (grumble) there is sometimes secondary coverage for Kindle's wireless via EDGE.

That's a company contracted out here in the west w. ATT. A tiny little cell company that offers coverage to people in BFE. Like where I live.

But, until I actually hear a review of how slow the download time is, I'm still Kindle-free.

EH-Your welcome. Those book covers shall forever be burned into your brain now. :)

Tori–I know, I so want that book. I want to frame the cover.

Amy–Won't be long now and you'll be busy discovering all the wonders of Kindle :)

KC–Yes, I think 'creative' is a nice way to say slob LOL

Buried by Books–I rarely need 3G, the wifi will work great for me since I mostly use my Kindle at home. But I still got the 3G model just in case. :)

OMG the Big Book of Lesbian Horse Stories is so full of win. I'm so afraid what they would do with that horse, since the one woman is all all his snout.

    Going in the WTFckery!!

That is perhaps the greatest cover I have ever seen. Her boobs are abnormally sharp are they not? She could take someone out with those! And no one can ride a horse in high-heeled boots (though I guess it's not the horse she's interested in). Just sayin:)

Love how it's not just a book of lesbian horse stories, but a Big Book. I'm tempted to buy it just to see what that chick does with that crop. LOL

Ava–is the crop that whip thingy? I can't stop thinking about it. Gives me the shivers. :)

Yep, FV. The whip thingy is a crop. Flick one of them with a nice snap in your wrist, and damn those things can sting. And they'll leave a nice red line. Just sayin'. ;)

And no! I don't own one, well not anymore. LOL. I rode horses for years, hence my detailed knowledge of riding crops. :)

You draw a lot of inspiration and energy from the outside world. You get bored easily if you spend too much time alone.

I took the test twice; once for my desk at home and again for the desk at work. Because, yes, I am the complete opposite at home than the person I am at work. (Did that even make sense?!!)

And I can do this because I am a Gemini and I think most of us know Gemini's have 2 sides ;)

    HOME:
    You Are a Creative Worker
You are a very personally expressive person, especially outside of work. Your individuality matters to you. (Agreed.)

You draw a lot of inspiration and energy from your own internal world. You get bored easily around other people. (I don't agree with the 2nd part.)

You are confident and competent. You tend to not make mistakes, and you trust your judgment. (I don't know about the "confident" part but I pretty competent.)

You are a striver, and it's important for people to see you as successful. You know that image is important. (Agreed.)

    WORK:
    You Are an Organized Worker
You are a very private person. You don't open up easily, and you don't open up to just anyone. (So true!)

You draw a lot of inspiration and energy from your own internal world. You get bored easily around other people.

You are confident and competent. You tend to not make mistakes, and you trust your judgment.

You are a striver, and it's important for people to see you as successful. You know that image is important. (Well, I don't want to let people down so yeah, I'm a striver.)
