Random Friday: Kindle Stuff, Valentines Day, Childishness Etc.

Happy almost Valentines day!! It’s a day of love. And overpriced roses. And over-crowded restaurants. And broken-hearted…well you know how it is right? I’m not one to go all out and celebrate the day of love usually. Hubs and I show the love throughout the year because we’re cool like that. My ideal Valentines evening is kicking back in my Eames lounge chair (I don’t really have one I just made that up) and snarfing down a half a bag conversation hearts, sipping a little chai tea and reading a book while the hubs commits mayhem on the PlayStation 3. Hey, we’ve been together for thirteen years. This works for us okay? What are your plans for Valentines day?

Kindle stuff: Good news Kindle users, NetGalley says the Kindle button should be back in March. Yay!
Amazon has an early preview release of software version 3.1 for K3 users. We’ll be getting real page numbers. Page numbers people!! Oh and some other stuff too. You can download it now, or wait until the official release and I assume it will be delivered right to your Kindle as usual.
Have you heard about the ARe Cafe? It’s not open to the public yet but it’s coming soon and will be featuring some cool book related stuff like events, recommended reads, featured author interviews, bookclub picks, blog bytes, what’s hot in romance Podcasts, videos, eBook tips.

Suck It Up Challenge progress. I’ve ground to a halt. I have lots of review books to read so I’m slacking on my challenge but I haven’t shelved it. I’ll pick it back up again as time permits. Oh stop calling me names, I can hear you!
I’ve read Grimspace and Wanderlust by Ann Aguirre so far as part of my Sci-Fi challenge. The Raunch Dilletante read Grimspace as a result Mandi and my squeeing over it and we have another convert. She liked it, she really, really liked it. Check out the review HERE.

Is there no end to my childishness and immaturity? I was browsing through my bookmarks yesterday and found this little gem that I must have saved at some point. Why? I don’t know, but I did: As My Junk *shakes head*

I came across this funny post over at Aspiring Mama. I can’t stop staring at the picture and the post is funny too.

On a more serious note I’d like to call your attention to a cause I think is worth supporting. FVBR reviewer Samantha is participating in AIDS Lifecycle 10th Anniversary Ride To End AIDS.
She says:
From June 5-11, 2011, I’m bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It’s a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.
Help me support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation by giving what you can. We’ll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.
You can help by sponsoring her in her ride or grab the graphic and link it put it in your sidebar.

Post Author Info:

Thank you so much for featuring my ride in post today. It means the world to me. It’s going to be a a hell of a challenge to ride 545 miles from SF to LA – but I will DO IT! The cause is to important to me miss any of those miles. !! So much love for you!! And thanks for letting me be part of FVBR too!
OMG people – ignore the spelling errors above! I promise I know how to form a sentence.
@Samantha: LMAO, haven’t you heard? This is FVBR and we have a blog gnome that adds the typos after you hit submit. I’ve tried to get rid of him but he keeps coming back. Sorry.
I’m always
stalkingchecking out you and Mandi for what books I need to read. Loved Grimspace, as well as a few others I’ve picked up from following both your blogs. Thanks for the shout out!How cute, llamas love

@Amanda: My pleasure and I loved your review.
Hold the iPhone! Stop the presses! Is this Kindle update only for Kindle 3 and not going to work on the K2? Looks like it is. (picture whiny woman here stomping around her office). Looks like a K3 may be in my near future.
@Samantha: That’s how it looked to me when I read the site. Really good excuse to upgrade though. I recommend the Wi-fi only version. I never use the 3G.
Love your reviews! Totally feelin’ the Llama Love. Valentine’s Day is pretty low key for Hubs and me…especially this year since I work Monday night. I will be reading while my husband plays me some Rock Band 3 mood music. I love reading and he loves playing Rock Band 3…we love each other, a perfect day.
Exactly!!
Great. Now I want my own finger monkey.
And I can’t wait for the software update for our beloved Kindles! Page numbers! Really? I hope they are not monkeying around.
My husband doesn’t believe in Valentine’s Day… it’s what he calls a “hallmark holiday”. But he brings me flowers all the time for no reason and lets me buy books to my hearts content (or at least tell he says stop, we have no book money left). So, I have no complaints!
‘As My Junk’? Really Sophia? Please tell me you were drunk when you found that site and thought it was funny enough to bookmark! I can’t believe I went there to see what you were talking about. lol
Thanks for the mention! It was very much appreciated.
I wasn’t completely up-to-speed with the Kindle information but I’m glad to see that it is just a software download, I was really afraid that you had to buy a completely new kindle and I was not happy about that!
Valentines day, what’s that?? LOL. I’m single so my V-Day plan includes studying for my test on Tuesday…exciting I know!
Love the llama kissing picture! Adorable.
Awww…kissy llamas. I love that.
We are doing our in-house date night – dinner and a movie Monday night after kidlets go to bed. That’s about it for us
